Francesca Ancarola


Chilean composer and interpreter of contemporary folklore associated with the World Music. Víctor Jara, Violeta Parra, Milton Nascimento, Chabuca Granda, Silvio Rodríguez and Chico Buarque are some of the creators that have influenced her music.

She won twice the main Chilean Music Award ALTAZOR in 2001 for “PASAJE DE IDA Y VUELTA” and later in 2006 for «LONQUÉN-Tributo a Víctor Jara»

She is one of the most recognized singers in her country; Francesca has sung at music events and festivals among which are the Ouro Preto-Brazil Jazz Festival, Lisboa-Portugal Jazz Festival, several tours with the pianist Carlos Aguirre presenting «ARRULLOS» (Shagrada Medra-UNICEF) in Argentina, CulturAmerica Festival of Pau-France, Americanto Mendoza Festival, the Folkloric Festival of Patagonia and many others.

She was the Chilean Representative at the Unesco Ceremony of the “Inca Trail as a World Heritage” she shared the stage with colleagues such Chano Domínguez , Jeff Gardner, Francisco Fattoruso, Paquito D`Rivera . She represented Chile at the EXIB Fair and at Casa América in Madrid, among other places

 With no doubt she is one of the most interesting Chilean international current proposals, in jazz, contemporary folk and World Music.
